Fractionated coconut oil (FCO) is as it sounds, a fraction of the main coconut oil leaving mainly the medium-chain triglycerides and making it an absolutely saturated oil. This saturation gives it a long shelf life and increased stability. The fractionating raises the comparative concentration of Capric acid and Caprylic acid, giving it more of antioxidant and disinfecting effect.

 

I use a lot of essential oils in our home, and often times we do apply them to our skin.  In order to safely apply essential oils to your skin you need a barrier oil to safely dilute the essential oil. This Fractionated Coconut Oil, by Radha Beauty is perfect for this as it goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feel behind.  It has a light, silky feel and I personally like that it has no odor. If you have dry, damaged hair, it's also worth trying fractionated coconut oil. The capric and caprylic acids work as antioxidants and disinfectants, and the low molecular weight of the oil means it can easily penetrate the hair shaft.  Apply the coconut oil directly on to the hair and leave for 15 to 30 minutes. Alternatively you can add it to a mild shampoo, but don't add to much (no more than 50/50) as it doesn't mix well with certain shampoo types - especially non-SLS types. It's often a case of trial and error, so don't be worried about experimenting.
