Today we introduce one of our (Happy Green Baby) favorite eco-friendly brands:  Babysoy!

One of our favorite collections is the Janey Baby Collection.  This is collaboration between Babysoy and Jane Goodall Institute, which feature whimsical drawings of endangered species.  This style uses high yarn count, organic cotton + bamboo fiber, to provide superior softness and silky surface. Artworks are printed with water-based ink.  Proceeds from each sale benefit the Jane Goodall Institute and its programs.

Babysoy uses long-staple cotton also known as Sea-Island cotton, which helps to build a longer lasting fabric structure.  Babysoy’s baby and tots line are sustainable and eco-friendly. Happy Summer Solstice!

Today is the Summer Solstice! (However, this year is a bit off and it actually started yesterday).  For people who live in the Northern Hemisphere of the world, today is the longest day of the year and the first official day of summer.   In the Arctic Circle, there will be 24 hours of daylight!  

The summer solstice occurs when the Earth’s axial tilt is closest to the sun. This occurs in late June for the Northern Hemisphere and late December for the Southern Hemisphere.  The time of the solstice depends upon your position on Earth and, as a consequence, where you are in relation to the sun.  

The summer solstice is a significant time for many religions and cultures. Today, people all over the world will mark this important milestone in the year with festivals, gatherings, and rituals.  How will you celebrate?  Whatever you do, grab your shades/sunscreen and get outside and enjoy the day!!

*DIY* Freshen up your carpets

*DIY Tip* Looking for a NON-TOXIC way to help freshen up your carpets (we all know how much time our family spends on the floor playing... )

To clean your carpet, mix together baking soda with your choice of essential oil,  and sprinkle the mixture onto the area you are cleaning. Let it sit for at least one hour and then vacuum. It’s easy, inexpensive and effective!

RECIPE:

Add 10 - 15 drops of Essential Oil per 1 1/2 cup baking soda.  Mix together.  Use an essential oil that will help repel dust mites  such as Lavender or Peppermint.  Sprinkle on the floor.  Let the mixture sit for an hour or longer, then vacuum.  Six back and enjoy the fresh carpets!
